While nobody can predict exactly what this might mean, we can certainly make some educated guesses—and it might not all be bad news.

Most people expect Trump’s second act to bring significant changes to the American economy. He’s genuinely focused on growth, and his radical policies, combined with an increasing coziness with the “Tech Bros” of Silicon Valley, could turbocharge the technology sector. While many of these companies are major employers in the UK, this might not be entirely positive if his agenda includes pulling these businesses back into the US. However, with US salaries significantly higher, the UK could become an “offshoring” destination for big American tech firms—or, conversely, it could lead to a brain drain as more UK talent is tempted to head Stateside.

Trump is famously fond of deregulation, and with his wingman Elon Musk now in a prime position, we should keep a close eye on potential advancements in AI, autonomous technologies, and increased collaboration between Big Tech and government.

Lastly, Trump may well clash with the EU over its tech policies, particularly on issues like regulation, competitiveness, and ethics. Could this finally result in a “Brexit Dividend” if the UK manages to escape some of the EU’s stricter approaches?

Time will tell, but one thing’s for sure—change is coming, and the UK tech sector will need to stay nimble.

["post-41351","insights","type-insights","status-publish","hentry","entry
["GET
