A software company that is fairly new to Edinburgh, is looking for a Front End React Developer to join their team. They actually started out as a tech consultancy but after building software for one of their clients, they spun out as a product-focused software company as they realised how valuable their software could be to other businesses.
They have a really impressive clientele which includes some of the biggest tech companies in the world. They're now looking to build their product team in Edinburgh and are looking for a Front End React Developer as part of that.
What will I be doing?
Great question!
You'll be working as their Front End specialist. They've got a skilled tech team at the moment but that is mostly made up of Back End Developers, so they're looking for someone that can really take ownership of the Front End. Your role will be able to take designs and turn them into functional front ends using JavaScript & React.
They're actually quite open to new technologies going forward - whether that is TypeScript or even a different Front End framework, they're pretty open. Obviously with you being the Front End expert, they'd expect you to be a big part of these discussions.
Who am I?
As mentioned, the Front End of the software is currently built in React, so you'll need to have commercial experience working with React. They're looking for someone that has a decent amount of experience behind them rather than a junior as they don't have anyone that can train you up in Front End technologies.
As you'll be the sole Front End Developer, they'd like you to be confident and forthcoming with ideas, so it'd suit someone that is currently doing that in their current role, but this isn't essential.
Who will I be working with?
The team is made up of a Product Manager, Back End Developers, Technical Specialists and there are plans to continue to grow over the next few years.
Their product is centred around employees feeling good within their work, so they're obviously very passionate about building a strong culture. With that in mind, someone that is the right team fit is massive for them.
How much will I be getting paid and where will I be based?
You'll probably want to know this before applying…
They are looking at someone at mid-level so have a range of £40,000 - £55,000 but they could potentially stretch this for someone that is a perfect fit. They've got a very strong benefits package which includes a very generous budget for training, lots of flexible working, private medical insurance and one of the strongest holiday packages I've seen!
As mentioned, they've just opened up an office in Leith specifically. The team try to go into the office most of the week, but they can be flexible around this, so as long you're happy going in once or twice per week as a minimum, that'd be ideal. They don't want it to feel like they're forcing someone into the office so they're looking for someone that genuinely wants to go into an office.
If you're an experienced React Developer that wants to work with a company that is working with some really impressive clients, then please apply and/or get in touch with Jack Steven at Cathcart Technology.
