Scottish Software Company, based in Edinburgh, are looking to grow their existing Development team with the addition of two more Software Engineers to work on their core products (Python and NodeJS). They've got a great culture and amazing work to life balance, where you can work pretty much fully remote and have a 4 DAY WORKING WEEK.

They've been running for 10+ years now and have incredibly strong staff retention; the majority of the Development team have been with the business for several years. They're looking to grow their team as they're currently expanding their product offerings and are keen to make sure the team can accommodate the work.

You'd be joining an Agile team of roughly 6 Software Engineers and will find yourself working across two different products (or focusing more so on one of them). The products are enterprise level and work to a national scale, they're designed to help illustrate and evaluate infrastructure for specific models of transport. Their flagship product is currently used throughout the UK and have recently started development on another product that they see lots of potential within.

Their main product is written in Python (using the flask framework) and hosted on AWS with a Microservices architecture, and VueJS + TypeScript front-end. The other product is written in NodeJS + TypeScript with an Angular front-end. Experience with all of these would be great, but they're pretty flexible when it comes to technology, they're just looking for someone with a good background in Python or NodeJS. Equally as important to tech fit, they're looking for Engineers with strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently on problems and a creative mindset as you'll be encouraged to suggest new features and technologies.

You'll ideally have experience with the following;

** Python Frameworks (Django, Flask, Ninja)

** Non-Relational Databases

** Software Testing

** Prior experience working in a product environment

Experience with the following is highly desirable;

** Cloud Services (Ideally AWS)

** JavaScript frameworks (VueJS, NodeJS, Angular)

** TypeScript

This is genuinely a unique opportunity as the Hiring Manager has mentioned it's a really creative environment, as "Engineers have a lot of power here, they can help build things how they want". So if you're looking to join an organisation where you can have some form of creative freedom and actively listened to, this could be the ideal role for you.

Their offices are based in Edinburgh where they accommodate both hybrid and largely remote. They do meet-ups once a month in the office, but aside from that it's your choice how often you'd like to pop - they're very flexible.

In addition, they have a 4-day work week, you'll usually work Monday - Thursday (roughly 9AM - 5PM) and will have every Friday off. It's something the company have been doing for a few years now and it's extremely popular.

In return, they're able to offer a salary from £40k to £60k depending on experience (and ability) on top of their benefits package.

He goes out of his way to ensure you are prepared for your interview and I particularly appreciated his professional no nonsense approach to working with me to find a new position.

Infrastructure Architect – Glasgow

A friend looking after me, that’s how I felt. His friendly character made the whole process way easier and enjoyable, he also managed to get me one of the most interesting work opportunities. I’m really glad our paths have crossed.

Software Engineer - Edinburgh

She even was able to help get a firmer offer as I was offered two roles on the same day. I felt she went over and above to get the best offer she could for me without selling myself short.

QA Engineer – Glasgow

I’ve never written a recommendation for a recruiter before, so it must show how impressed I am!

Software Developer – Northampton

He is the most honest, thorough and experienced recruitment consultant I have ever dealt with. If he can’t help you, he’ll tell you rather than spinning a yarn and putting you forward for jobs that aren’t suitable.

Technical Author – Edinburgh

Equal parts friendly and professional, never once coming across as simply going through the motions and made the whole thing as painless as possible for all parties

Software Developer – Glasgow

THE BEST test recruiter I’ve had the pleasure of working with, from start to finish. She provided me with training resources and is an organiser and participant in testing events. She really has taken the time to fully understand the testing principles.

Test Analyst – Aberdeen

She was friendly, communicative and informative, talked me through the process and gave me good advice at every stage.

Software Engineer – Manchester

Absolutely fantastic throughout my interview process, and I cannot recommend him highly enough! First of all, he is an absolutely brilliant communicator and extremely reliable. On top of all of his brilliant recruitment skills, it was amazing to see how genuinely excited he was for me when I received my offer. This truly conveyed to me how much he cares about his clients.

Software Engineer – Edinburgh

I can say with total sincerity I’ve never dealt with a more professional, knowledgeable and personable recruitment firm in fifteen years of contracting. They helped my wife and I relocate to Edinburgh with our five month old son and it’s in no small part to their tips and recommendations that we’ve settled in so quickly.

Transformation Consultant – Leeds

I have had dealings with the majority of recruitment agencies in this country and beyond. He really stands out from the crowd and the IT industry would benefit from more people like him.

Software Developer – Glasgow

Compared to other recruiters I have worked with she seemed genuinely interested in helping me with my job search rather than just fulfilling quotas.

Software Developer – Lincoln

It was a breath of fresh air – She is professional and approachable and will be there to help you every step of the way. Other recruiters give you the hard sell and the ‘best friend routine’ to get you on board and then just leave you guessing, but not here… She’s the real deal

Solutions Architect – Glasgow

He stood out in a world of poorly informed, unreliable and frankly annoying recruiters as a breath of fresh air.

Data Scientist – Manchester

Never have a I met a recruiter like him, who embeds himself in the community so thoroughly in a way that could only be genuine. From our conversations, he has shown an understanding of the industry I would expect from a local CTO.

MI Analyst – Bolton
