New head of role available to join a well-established software company based in Glasgow. As the business enters a new phase of growth, this role will be instrumental in leading and expanding the software business, ensuring its commercial success and strategic alignment with the wider Group. You will be responsible for driving organisational performance, expanding market reach through strong partnerships, and spearheading the launch of new products. Additionally, this role will involve developing and nurturing deep relationships with senior customer stakeholders to ensure continued success and growth in the market.

The company:

Operating for nearly 30 years, they develop software solutions for a well-known industry and have been re-imagined over the last 2 years. With around 15 technical staff, they have recently been through some positive change, modernising both the technical environment and ways of working. You will be joining at a time where they have just started the release of a new product, which is a SaaS offering that utilises AI, on top of their existing product offering.

The company offers a high level of autonomy alongside excellent career progression and promotion potential, as demonstrated by the growth of current staff. They've really modernised their approach in recent years, embarking on an exciting Agile journey, introducing new technologies, and even rewriting their overall strategy. While they're still evolving in their Agile practices, they're proud of the progress made over the past 18 months. Unlike many companies facing challenges in today's economic climate, this organisation remains in a strong, stable position with a growing portfolio of UK and global clients, as well as a robust sales pipeline.

They are great believers in employing great staff and have a number of key principles they live by, communication, collectiveness and transparency. They want to ensure they hire the right personalities and individuals who really want to continue the success of the organisation. This will be a key role in helping to do so.

Although the company are based out of central Glasgow, this role is very much hybrid and only required to be in office a few times a week/month. The main reasons to travel in would be for town halls, team meetings or potentially meeting with clients - basically the important stuff. Therefore, they can consider anyone really from across the central belt and potentially further afield.

The role:

As the Head of you will be responsible for leading and growing the software division, overseeing a team of approximately 15 technical professionals. Your focus will be on driving the growth and commercial success of the software business, ensuring its strategic alignment with the wider Group, and potentially expanding into new markets. You'll manage the P&L, annual budgets, and forecasts, ensuring the financial health of the division.

You will collaborate closely with the Head of Product and Software Technical Lead to define and execute the product strategy and roadmap, ensuring they align with market demands. In addition, you'll work with senior leadership and board-level stakeholders to drive continuous improvement across the business and products. The role will require you to build and nurture strong relationships with key customers and strategic partners, ensuring both customer retention and the expansion of market reach.

Key to your success will be your ability to support business development activities, including crafting proposals, responding to RFPs, and enabling partners to effectively sell products. You'll also work with the parent company on joint bids and go-to-market strategies. Additionally, you'll monitor KPIs, track performance, and ensure transparency in your reporting to the wider Group.

With a focus on leadership and financial management, you'll be responsible for resource allocation, managing profitability, and assessing new market opportunities. Your experience in the software, SaaS, or technology sector will be essential, along with a strong understanding of product management, sales strategies, and stakeholder management.

Key Skills and background:

** Experience leading a software or technology business or department

** Having managed a team of 10+ technology individuals

** SaaS or product business background would be highly beneficial

** Strong commercial and financial acumen, with experience managing P&L, budgets, and forecasting

** Ability to Build and maintain strong relationships with senior customer stakeholders

** Ability to define and execute the product strategy and roadmap in collaboration with the product and development teams, ensuring alignment with market demands and emerging trends

This is an opportunity for an experienced leader to make a significant impact in a growing software business. As head of you'll play a pivotal role in driving the division's growth, shaping product strategy, and overseeing its financial success. You'll have the autonomy to lead, innovate, and work alongside senior leadership to shape the future of the company, all while building strong relationships with key partners and customers.

THE BEST test recruiter I’ve had the pleasure of working with, from start to finish. She provided me with training resources and is an organiser and participant in testing events. She really has taken the time to fully understand the testing principles.

Test Analyst – Aberdeen

Absolutely fantastic throughout my interview process, and I cannot recommend him highly enough! First of all, he is an absolutely brilliant communicator and extremely reliable. On top of all of his brilliant recruitment skills, it was amazing to see how genuinely excited he was for me when I received my offer. This truly conveyed to me how much he cares about his clients.

Software Engineer – Edinburgh

She was friendly, communicative and informative, talked me through the process and gave me good advice at every stage.

Software Engineer – Manchester

I’ve never written a recommendation for a recruiter before, so it must show how impressed I am!

Software Developer – Northampton

He is the most honest, thorough and experienced recruitment consultant I have ever dealt with. If he can’t help you, he’ll tell you rather than spinning a yarn and putting you forward for jobs that aren’t suitable.

Technical Author – Edinburgh

He stood out in a world of poorly informed, unreliable and frankly annoying recruiters as a breath of fresh air.

Data Scientist – Manchester

Equal parts friendly and professional, never once coming across as simply going through the motions and made the whole thing as painless as possible for all parties

Software Developer – Glasgow

Compared to other recruiters I have worked with she seemed genuinely interested in helping me with my job search rather than just fulfilling quotas.

Software Developer – Lincoln

I can say with total sincerity I’ve never dealt with a more professional, knowledgeable and personable recruitment firm in fifteen years of contracting. They helped my wife and I relocate to Edinburgh with our five month old son and it’s in no small part to their tips and recommendations that we’ve settled in so quickly.

Transformation Consultant – Leeds

A friend looking after me, that’s how I felt. His friendly character made the whole process way easier and enjoyable, he also managed to get me one of the most interesting work opportunities. I’m really glad our paths have crossed.

Software Engineer - Edinburgh

He goes out of his way to ensure you are prepared for your interview and I particularly appreciated his professional no nonsense approach to working with me to find a new position.

Infrastructure Architect – Glasgow

She even was able to help get a firmer offer as I was offered two roles on the same day. I felt she went over and above to get the best offer she could for me without selling myself short.

QA Engineer – Glasgow

I have had dealings with the majority of recruitment agencies in this country and beyond. He really stands out from the crowd and the IT industry would benefit from more people like him.

Software Developer – Glasgow

It was a breath of fresh air – She is professional and approachable and will be there to help you every step of the way. Other recruiters give you the hard sell and the ‘best friend routine’ to get you on board and then just leave you guessing, but not here… She’s the real deal

Solutions Architect – Glasgow

Never have a I met a recruiter like him, who embeds himself in the community so thoroughly in a way that could only be genuine. From our conversations, he has shown an understanding of the industry I would expect from a local CTO.
