I am working with a digital function of a largescale company in Glasgow who are looking to recruit an experienced Software Project Manager to the team.
The company:
The business is a national renewables organisation and they are growing their digital capabilities greatly. This is a brand new position, created in order to help to develop internal software and to continue to modernise their cloud and data services.
Sitting within a team of roughly 50 Software Developers, you will report into the Chief Product Owner and will be involved in making a number of "nitty gritty" decisions. You will be working across a widespread number of projects and these will all involve modernising the software environment.
The company look for a 40% in office hybrid policy (2 days a week), but there is flex on the days.
They offer strong benefits on top of the salary including a 20% bonus, 10% pension and private healthcare.
The role:
This is a fairly typical Software Project Manager role. You will be responsible for managing end-to-end software projects through effective estimation and planning, management of resources, budget planning, risk mitigation strategies and measuring team performance.
The main stakeholders you will be engaged with are the Software Development team (internal and third party) and other members of the tech teams. A lot of the projects are focused on modernising the tech environment, largely moving applications onto Cloud (Azure for them). The projects will be widely 'software' focused, but this is including and not limited to: cloud and CI/CD, authentication, reporting, data and AI. There really are some forward thinking and interesting projects to work on.
It would also be ideal if you can demonstrate expertise in managing software development projects using both Waterfall and Agile methodologies, as these are predominantly what they use. It is a combination of Kanban, Waterfall and Scrum - working with the methodology that is best suited to each project. I would stress that this person doesn't have to come from a technical software background (there is enough strength for this in the current team), but more so experience of managing the full, end-to-end software delivery lifecycle.
Your background:
** Strong software delivery experience and Project Management
** Ideally strong Agile (Kanban, Scrum) and Waterfall knowledge
** Skills in estimation, scoping, reporting, budgeting and governance
** Third-party experience (managing budgets, scoping and project costing)
** Background in a senior Software Delivery role, working for a software or technology/product company
** Experience in making sure releases are out on time and supporting custom builds, making sure they are on time and on budget
This is an opportunity to work with a thriving and employee-first organisation. You will get to work on some largescale and modern projects and with some huge organisations, whilst leading and working alongside some very bright minds.
