Cathcart Technology: 13 Years In Tech

We can’t escape technology. Today, everything from conversations to food shops can be carried out in just a few clicks. And, in the same way technology has permeated every aspect of our daily lives, it’s also infiltrated the DNA of our workplaces. Now, every company is a tech company – no matter its offering.

As the distinction between technology and non-technology companies becomes increasingly irrelevant, businesses are having to change their approach to digital tools. Put simply, if you don’t invest in building a qualified tech team, you’ll find yourself up against a competitor that will. That’s where we can help.

How it started

When we first set up the company back in 2009, the name ‘Cathcart Associates’ was right for us. It described a partnership (our two-man team) as well as the power of connections (our clients and candidates). In a nutshell, it was a tidy way of summing up who we were, and what we’d set out to do.

Fast forward 13 years, and the technological landscape has shifted dramatically. The development of AI is pushing the boundaries of how companies do business; we’re seeing the rise of the metaverse – a world that straddles the real and the digital. Blockchain technologies are becoming more and more popular, as is remote working and the notion of the ‘hybrid’ workspace.

And, as technology becomes more sophisticated, so do cyber risks – with organisations having to put cybersecurity at the forefront of their business model too. That means the needs of the technology sector are also changing at a rapid rate.

The future of tech

At Cathcart, we believe technology has the power to shape a better world for everyone – with the right team, of course. Our goal has always been to advance the tech industry through highly effective job placements; it’s what we set out to do in a poky two-person attic in Edinburgh over a decade ago, and what we’ve been continuing to do ever since. And in an industry that thrives by remaining at the cutting edge, the last thing you want your recruitment style to be is stale. That’s why we’ve made the decision to home in on our niche. Enter: Cathcart Technology.

You might be thinking, what’s in a name? But the answer is, a lot! Your name is the most recognisable part of your business, so it needs to reflect what you do. Our knowledge of the tech employment market isn’t just outstanding – it’s intuitive. We were quick to adapt during the global pandemic, for instance, responding to ever-evolving demand and helping both businesses and jobseekers come out on top in the face of adversity.

In the wake of the new normal and the growing tech skills shortage, we’re once again ahead of the game.

Your future in tech

But what does this mean for you? It’s simple: our experienced team has a deep understanding of the sectors we work in, along with a strong network of contacts throughout Scotland, the North of England, Thailand, and Finland. As a result, we’re perfectly positioned to help you find the right fit – whether for your company or next role.

Not only are we a market leader in the tech space, but we also play an integral role in the communities where we’re based. Most notably, we organise and recruit for both ScotML and MancML – two of the UK’s most prominent data analytics meet-ups, which promote some of the best talent the industry has to offer.

Ready to drive yourself forward? We can accelerate the process. Get in touch with us today.
